Oakland County 

Oakland County is an extraordinary part of Michigan. Home to many Fortune 500 companies, it is rich in natural beauty and long in historical significance. Quiet, tree-lined streets, elegant shopping and dining options and exciting, bohemian downtown areas are all part of Oakland County’s character.

 

It is also the 4th wealthiest county in the United States among counties with more than one million people. The county's knowledge-based economic initiative, coined "Automation Alley", is one of the largest employment centers for engineering and related occupations in the United States.

 

Many of the public school districts in Oakland County have multiple "National Exemplary" Schools. The International Academy (IA), which is part of the Bloomfield Hills School District, is consistently ranked by Newsweek as one of the top 10 public high schools in the nation. Oakland County also is home to a number of well-known private schools, including the Detroit Country Day School, the Cranbrook Schools and the Roeper School. Oakland University, a large public research university with more than 18,000 students, is located in Rochester, Michigan .

 

Oakland County residents enjoy outdoor activities in all seasons. The Oakland County Parks offer year-round outdoor fun including hiking trails, boating, fishing, cross-country skiing and more. In the fall you can sample the homemade cider and donuts at several local cider mills or pick your own apples at numerous orchards. There are weekly art fairs and outdoor festivals at various locations throughout the summer plus outdoor theatre at Meadowbrook Music Festival and the DTE Energy Music Theatre.

City of Birmingham

The City of Birmingham, Michigan is located approximately halfway between the City of Detroit and the City of Pontiac, in Oakland County.

Township of Bloomfield

Bloomfield township features 26 square miles that are distinguished by rolling hills, winding roads, and scenic lakes and streams. 

City of Bloomfield Hills

Bloomfield Hills values the traditions of quiet, rural residential properties. Home to the internationally renowned Cranbrook Institute of Science.
